M11X - Binding

I'm moving over to the Sanwa world from Spektrum and am not sure I have somthing right.....

I have gone through the binding prcess on the 2wd and 4wd

Do the recievers "know" which model they are? If I have model 1 selected on the tx but both cars switched on they both run and respond to the tx - is this right?
