Default BBY Ultima RB5 Mid and Rear Motor on a single platform conversion

Hello fellow ooplers This is our conversion for the RB5 that allows it to be built as a mid or rear motor car with the battery in inline format in both cases.A narrow aluminium chassis with aluminium stiffening spars .The ESC and receiver are mounted on plastic sidepods that sit a bit higher than the main chassis to minimize chassis/ground drag during corning or bottoming out .

Chassis flex is adjusted by slacking or tightening up selectively the screws that hold the aluminium spars on the chassis. There are two versions of the chassis which increase the wheelbase by 6mm and 12mm respectively compared to the std RB5 to suit different tracks

The 4th gear in the mid motor version is external and uses the standard RB5 idler gear

The car was used on carpet for the first time in this year's Petit event with 100% reliability on a track that claimed a lot of broken cars over the weekend. It showed very good manners despite the fact that only the long chassis was available at the time on what was a tight, technical track.Knowledgeable friends mentioned it as possibly our finest work on a 2WD so far Discussing areas we could work on could to further enhance its performance with Mr Ralls ,the answer was jokingly: nothing ,just the driver
Not standing still though, we got the shorter chassis finished upon return from Petit and off it went to the hands of one of our better skilled test drivers Argiris for testing
