I find something rather annoying about the new kyosho wheels for offroad cars. The offset is totally different than the old school early 90's 2.2" wheels. When placed on my optima mid with Lazer suspension, i find the old wheels, W5026W and W5028W ,which is still supplied on the New ZX-5 RTR by the way, makes the front wheels wider than the rear, which is the way its supposed to be. Unknowingly i bought a set of NEW Kyosho wheels which are flat at the sides, and the front track is narrower than the rear? why did kyosho change the offset? Also why is is not easy for me to get the RTR (old ZX-R) rims? Some places do carry them but some wont, they say their customers wont buy them.
Have alook at these pics. I also really do not like the looks of the new rims and the new Pro Line tyres which look like truck tyres to me. 1st pic, My Optima Mid with ZX-5 RTR Tyres , nice eh? 2nd pic, top view, upper side, ZX-5(ZX-R) RTR wheels, notice the front width wider than rear? Lower side, new kyosho wheels with new proline tyres, notice rear track width wider than front. 3rd pic : The Side with new Kyosho wheels and modern proline tyres.Ugly eh? Why kyosho does not list the RTR tyres in their ZX-5 Manual, when its obvious it is the W5641 tyres, which were also stock on the ZX-R from 1992 ? That means i wont be able to buy exact replacement tyres? But why did they supply these tryes with the RTR if they are not going to sell replacements? I totally beleive that the W5641 tyres can be just as good as other modern tyres, it just needs sponge inserts in them to be better, anyone tried this yet? |
