Vector NX85 charger

I've recently bought a new Vector NX85 charger but it doesn't come with any instructions. Firstly it doesn't seem to charge or register my transmiter but will with my hump pack? The second thing is it works using mains voltage and 12v DC but nothing seems to happen when trying to use the 12v battery, any help would be apreciated thanks.
