Lazer ZXr / s ?

Hello folks!, I'm new to this forum, and wondered if I could ask some advice.

I have recently purchased what i'm sure of is a kyosho lazer zxr/s In fact having examined all the exploded views I can on-line i'm happy i've identified the car. However I have a feeling it is something of a combination of the two.

It has a full carbon chassis, gold shocks, white nylon front gearbox and a blue spur gear mount.

It is in very good condition and I intend get it up and running with the few parts I need further to complete. I also wish to race the car, but haven't been involved in rc racing since the early 90's when I used to go and watch, but could never afford!!

Is this car capable of keeping up with modern kits?, I am only a begginer so I figure the car might outweigh my skills for a reasonable length of time anyway?, or do you think i'd be best selling on ebay and buying an alternative modern kit?

Also does the Lazer ZX 5 Body shell fit the ZXR??, if so figured that might be a way of making it look a little more modern (a sheep in wof clothing)
