I started some work on the Optima mid I have ready for the vintage season last night. Stripped the original mech speedo out and put an electronic speedo in, all looking good, though that original Acoms receiver with the flying wores really is HUGE isn’t it?

Anyway I have two questions; I need some 2.2inch wheels what fit the kyosho hex (will Lazer wheels fit?, any have any they don’t want?) as we run yellow mini spikes. Next I need to know the ratio of the optima mid gearbox, anyone have a chart? Next what to gear a 19t motor on, I have a Peak Dynasty I think to use (laydown brush thing) if that makes a difference? So then lastly the gears are something unusual aren’t they? If so when I know what ratio to run Ill be on the scrounge for a pinion to suit. It has a Parma K stock in it now which is VERY slow indeed, though the pinion is quite large.

Oh, All this is assuming the mid belt setup should be OK to run a modern 19t? It seems very free with no belt skip at all which is good, gear diffs not so good!
