I think dual mode is basically more efficient and means lower temps. Sensored only and Turbo and Boost modes are for squeezing power out of spec motors, where you have to run say 10.5.
In off road where you can run any motor you want I think it's better to choose the motor that gives you the right amount of power and leave it in dual mode.
