There seems to be a lot of people mentioning that they are running this that and the other set up with regards to brushless/motor/lipo/nimh. With nimh a little harder to get a hold of good quality 'matched packs' these days, i feel the obvious route is lipo with regards to how we power the cars.
Now clearly there is a difference in voltage between the two and there is also a difference in performance.
I raced today for the first time in around a year, i started the day off with mardave brushless esc and motor with an intellect 5000mah 1s lipo. I was running 48 dp with a 75t spur and 28t pinion, a little taller than i would normally run at the track i use to/made a return race at, (wirral mcc, Neston) i did this to try and compensate for the lower voltage. The car was certainly not that far off the pace (small track granted), but it got me thinking. Rather than everyone, or at least a large amount of people going out and buying the e z run set up or whatever it is, would it not be more wise to simply try and find a slightly larger (not 540 13.5t etc) motor to try and compensate for the lower the voltage, not sure of the specs of the currently supplied motor with the mtroniks/mardave brushless set up, but i think that spending say (as a gauge) £25 max for a new motor so we can run the 1s lipo wouldnt be too bad. as i say, i havent raced for a while so maybe im way wide of the mark here. (Ps. I'm not wonderful at getting my thoughts down but i'm sure you get my drift)
