I always use the same lube on my gears in the gearbox that i use in the diff...( schumacher). This has defeneatly reduced wear on the gears. In theory, it reduces friction and temp. This again reduces wear.
I do this in my 2wd and 4wd, and recomend it.
Its been a sucsess for me
