Cougar transmission issue

Three times now, my cougar has stopped mid race. When the marshall brings it to me the transmission feels very tight. and the applying throttle does not allow the wheels to turn. However after some manipulation of the rear wheels it suddenly frees up and is driveable again.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I will strip it down this weekend and see if I can find anything. Of course it may not be cougar related, it might be a motor problem?
