Standard or turbo plugs

Hi there,
i'm new to this site and fairly green in the nitro world. I hope none of you mind i posted a similar question on another site but had very little response.
Within the next couple of days i should be receiving a Novarossi .21 Plus-4. I'm fairly certain the one i will be getting has the option of running turbo or standard plugs, as it has the two types of buttons in the box. My question is which is best? i've been told that turbo shortens the life of the engine. Is this true?
