My lazer restore finished with the mystery part
This was my first RC car. I bought this Lazer ZX-R MKll back in 1990-92, it was so long ago I don't remember exactly. Originally I had a futaba radio, Tekin 411 P2 speed control, sanyo 2400 batteries and a race prep motor. I later crashed it and broke the front shock stay and put it away for a while. When I decided to pick it up a few years later, I couldn't get too many parts for it, so I fabbed a front shock stay out of aluminium changed the speed control to a novac rooster and crashed it again. This time I only bent the front shock stay. Because parts were so hard to find back then I decided to put it away. So now, almost 20 years later, with the internet and the help of Isobarik,Welshy and Ema(not to mention a lot of money) its been restored to better than new condition.
I decided to change a couple of little details to make it, in my opinion, a little more pleasing to the eye. The front shock stay was hand made by me using the broken shock stay and frame I found at a hobby shop. I went with lunsford titanium turnbuckles because the problem with the originals is that the moment you touch them they're scratched and look bad. The wheels are original part number but in white to match my mystery part. The wing is my mystery part, it's original kyosho but I don't remember from what buggy. I think it was from the kyosho inferno 10. What's really nice about it is that it's exactly what the original wing looks like only formed on hard plastic. The only thing still missing is a complet body kit, witch I hope kamtec will make soon.
When I think about it you can't really call this a restoration, when all the parts on it exept for the diffs and front gearbox are original. This is really a new build.
Hope you enjoyed the histoy of my lazer, here are some pics.
