Front kick up

Is 30 degree kickup always used nowadays? If you have experimented with less kickup please explain how it feels on track. To me 30 degrees is quite a lot, whats the thinking behind this...... I havent been involed in offroad for a very long time.
Does less kickup give less on power steering?
