LRP X11 problem

I have an LRP X11 that came un-done (long screws that hold it all together) last time I ran it. Now the screws won't tighten back up. The threads look ok, it feels like the thing / bolt they screw into has threads that have gone inside the can.

I know I can remove the end of the motor, but can I get the top end off to see what's going on in there without buggering it up ?

Anyone else had a similar problem, as it is I can't use the motor as only 1 screw will tighten back up
