SP LPF v1.1 recommended motor limit without fan

I'm thinking about installing my speed passion lpf esc in a b4 without the fan installed. What turn brushless will I get away with? I'm only asking because I'm planning something fairly mild e.g. 9.5T.
Has anyone tried 8.5T or lower and gotten away with it?
