We could make it of "plastic," which uses fiberglass reinforcing instead of carbon. This is not as stiff and heavier, both bad things, but the part would be less brittle.

Why is being less stiff and lighter a bad thing? With Li-Po all over the place, weight is necessary, and the chassis is the lowest place to put it. And there is a reason why all Associated (team) drivers use the plastic chassis, apparently it just performs better.
