Newbie question

I am the proud owner of a db01, but have had some issues with it. Mostly my engine is running to hot. So I need to gear it different. (and also the dampers are weak)

I calculated the ratio for the engine on gearchart, which indicates that 91t spr and 18/19t pinion would be best. The db01 is supposed to have a gear ratio of 2.055 (according go google results :P) if I'm not mistaken.
As far as I know the Tamya runs with 48pitch spur and pinion.

On to my question:
Can I use any pinion brand I like, Ie. Losi's 48p 18t pinion?

Or do I have to use a spesific brand?
