Running in new brushes

Hi,

I have a new brushed motor and want to know the best way to run it in. I had thought I'd just trim the throttle and let it run for 15 mins or so, but the instructions state "3v for 10-15 mins".

Might be a daft question to some, but how do I acheive 3v?
