Default Li-po balance

Im struggling with the cat sx at the moment and the only thing different i am running to most people is a light li-po. Im going to try a 4900 MAH trakpower and see what happens with the extra weight. What i want to know is how easy is it to check the balance with lipo one side and electrics the other. I have just read that moving the motor on the motor clamp you can change the balance. Maybe my motor is in the wrong place??
I have spent so much on this car that i have to get it going right.
Any ideas will be much appreciated.
