X11 Brushless Motors

I'm looking at getting a new brushless motor for my 2WD off road car for next year. Last year I used my 4 star brushless motor from my 1/12 car in some meetings, it was ok in dry high grip conditions but too fast if it was damp or low grip.

Looking at getting a 3 star and noticed the new lrp x11 motors. Are these motors just a newer design with more torque? Would I be right in saying a 6.5 is the same as a 3 star. Will this new x11 motor be suitable for off road?
