Lightbulb Cyclone D4 WCE laydown suspension

I made a Cyclone D4 with laydown ultra progressive suspension. (A part of this tread is taken from here

At the start I try to put touring car damper on TRF 501X.

Here is the result :

Good suspension but I have some problem with dogbone due to TRF damper nylon end rod and end cap that are too elastic. In fact, in extrem condition the dogbone pop out from the differential hub. The other bad thing is the fact that only a little quantity of oil work due too little damper. So I followed my project with rear Losi XXX damper for front and rear.

I also use the cyclone D4 for next project (I'm bored about the belt transmission).

Overview

Rear shock tower

Front end, with self moulded wing (note the little carbon plate on the shock tower for reinforcement)

The shaft drive are fill with molybden grease then I put plastic film (cellophane use for preserve your food)

Top view without body

Rear view

The aim is to have an ultra progressive suspension work. Actualy the suspension is softer than original one at the ride heigth and firmer than the original one when fully compressed.
That made the car better on jump and bumpy track.

The piston used is losi black with 6 holes in rebound with valve for having only 3 holes in compression (similar to the predator X10-X11 but working in compression, not in rebound)

I will speak about the big (compared with other offroad buggy) front wing.
My think is the following, we have more than enough power with brushless, but we don't have more traction, and we need to slow down on jump to avoid to jump too far.
So what if we made like F1, IE a lot of down force with big motor ? So I try it, with front wing the car is faster in turn (with according setting of course) than without. You can take jump faster because of down force your car land more quikly.

I broke my lexan front wing, so I set up my car without it, and the car is not as fast.

Now I use a plastic wing from 3racing : It's a 195mm touring wing. The particularity is to have end plate and two medium plate. I cut the two end around the medium plate in order to have a narrower front wing (now it is 127mm width)

Here the result on my car :

I hope the plastic wing will be more durable.

Enjoy
