Default BRCA legal brushless for Lazer

I am currently running a Mamba Max 7700 in my Lazer ZX-5. What BRCA legal brushless motor would you guys recommend for the Lazer? I am building a second car so am thinking of buying everything from scratch so could even go sensored.

i run a novak GTB 4.5 sintered. fits in fine, even with the standard shell. Just swap the fan for a much more racing 30mm fan, it shifts a lot more air then.
The LRP is more versatile speedo with more settings and the TC version will never thermal in offroad with a 4.5 or 5.5. But it is a LOT more expensive than the novak.

198 dollars won't have that nice warranty!! unless you want to ship it back to US or HK!!
oh, and it doesn't have a motor like the novak!
as long as you water proof the sensor wire and change the fan on the speedo the novak is fine.

I would recomend the nosram matrix evolution with a orion vortex motor there isnt much diffrence between the speedos but you do get the life time warrenty with the nosram one and with the motors the orion vortex is a quick motor with its sisntered rotor and ive found it runs cooler than other motors and speaking to wood last ngiht he said he also found it run cool.

You got that right! Anything less powerful will probably do me fine. Unfortunately I won't make the meeting on the 12th as I'll be in Hereford racing Micro's!

I've hooked my Mamba Max up to my laptop and changed the throttle curve quite a bit to ramp up much later and also set the start power to LOW so hopefully the Mamba 7700 will be a bit more tame now. I think I'll bring my laptop to the next meeting to experiment with profiles abit.

but... I'd still like to get something that is within BRCA the guidelines to rather get used to that instead. Any idea if the Mamba Max motors will be BRCA legal anytime soon?

I emailed Paul about it, the mamba motors wont be legal as the inside dimensions dont match the EB rules, the speedo is legal (no such thing as an illegal speedo) so if you do still want to use it then i would either wait for the download off the castle site so the ESC will run sensored motors smoothly or get the Mtroniks Plasma45 (6.5 equivalent) which is sensorless and BRCA legal

Fantastic!!!! Another motor i can save up for, my thinks im gonna need a few for different tracks.

Can you still program the ESC in the computer and have the same effects with different motors?

i dont see why not, but i havent tried yet. I should add i did get a slight bit of cogging on startup but i think this will soon be ironed out with the next filmware release, apart from that the motor felt great to drive with good brakes and gave me good results.

I agree with this.
Many folks in our club race this combination, they are really satisfied with it.
I'll give the Vortex a try with my GM speedo and want to switch to a Nosram as soon as possible.
