Default newbie needing advice

just happened to stumble across this site at the right time
im about to start doing off road and i need advice on what generator or battery to use to power my charger/fans etc.
im also looking for advice on a new buggy 4wd, which one i will be using it mainly outdoors, there seem to be more buggy's coming out more than ever, i did like the look of the 501x but i was told parts are hard to get hold of, then theres the x11, xx4, bj4, aero 1, im looking to get something in the next 2 weeks really, i have got a zx5 but haven't run it yet, in fact ive never ran a buggy since i was 15 "tamiya astute".
i was going to run the lazer but i heard that they dont like the ruff stuff outdoors.

anyway thanks in advance for any advice

Hiya mate and welcome - someone lied about the lazer It's fine outdoors but will need a couple of things like alloy front pin brace and front tower mount to take some real abuse. It handles great on rough stuff - as long as it's setup properly, spares are also available trackside where I've raced (nationals and regionals)

I am racing the 501X myself at the moment - spares are indeed hard to come by.. the car is popular like I'd imagined but not at the top level since there are no sponsored drivers. You'd see more at club level than National level - even with 10 guys turning up for 4wd at a regional you had more 501Xs than 120 4wd racers at a National! Parts aren't easy to come by over here, no.

Get down to a local club, see what people are using to power chargers, what batteries and of course what cars. Our lazer runs fine, good solid car - fitted with front brace and carbon shock towers, have to realy crack it into something to break it. have fun.

M-k-racing.com have a very good price on the hot bodies d4 at the moment. I had the tamiya also, but the parts problem made me to change to a different car. As for batteries etc, i have a leisure battery for now but am looking into getting a geny and power supply, as this will free up some space when charging at home.
Good Luck

I have just started to run the 501x and as Jimmy said the parts are hard to find in this country and you wont see them for sale trackside, but with them been so cheap to buy from places like hong kong its worth while stocking up on parts you are likely to need then i cant see a problem running one, but at the end of the day its all about personal choice

I don't think the mamba esc is BRCA legal. Definately check before turning up and finding you cannot race...
