Nah its fine, just run a proper speedo and motor, cut out the body and gear it right you will have no problems at all.

Is there no way at all in modifying it to run without the under tray?

There's a couple of people at our club that run without undertrays indoors. You don't have to modify anything, just leave it off.

If you run without the undertray you'll be exposing the spur gear and that's a no no at some clubs.

Just get another undertray and cut a ton of holes in one of them for indoors. I have a LRP X12 5.5 and SXX in mine and it gets very hot. Too hot for my liking. I've only run it like that twice and I have been told it's the LRP stuff that run that hot so I might try something else next week. I have a SP 6.5 v3 motor and Tekin RS Pro here. I have holes cut in my body, none in the undertray as of yet and I run a fan between the ESC and motor too.

But i thought without the undertray the body wouldn't reach the chassis properly and no mountings?

Yeah, i know it probably wont hurt nothing it getting a tad warm, but i personally just don't like it lol i like the idea of having 2 undertrays though and just chopping lots of vents into it

Also Is there a lot of patience needed with setting this car up when you first run it?

With regards to setup I guess it depends what you like. I have run my SX twice now (had a SX1 before that) and the kit indoor setup works just fine for me. I've not had to do anything at all to the car apart from reliability upgrades. I do however want a tiny bit more steering so I have been pondering the best approach but the car really isn't bad out of the box. One great thing with this is that there is a ton of info available and it seems the team guys are eager to help so I guess if it's not doing what you want just ask on here and someone will have something to try for you.

I got the front alloy wishbone hangers (the ones with the 4mm screws) and I also got a stegger brace which I think is crucial. Other than that just replace as you break it.

It's a superb car, not in any way regretting coming back to Schumy!
