To my knowledge PayPal always use your whole name after "Dear", although I guess most people wouldn't notice that. That's the way I tell if it's a spoof or not, that and the fact that I can always tell as they're so badly done.

If there really is something up with your paypal account you will be able to find out by logging into it in the normal fashion over a browser and manually entering the address.

The mail didn't come from a paypal domain email address either, so it is 100% dodgy. Account verification my bum, no bank or any other place ever does that via email!

PayPal will call you if there is ever an issue with your account. They have done me when someone used it to buy 400 quids worth of PC on christmas day so don't bother with their emails!

I work with Paypal everyday. If the actual subject matter of the email is not notified when you log in normally then it's phishing. I.E "So and so has opened a Paypal dispute, click here to resolve", if that's not showing in the resolution centre when you login it's dodgy.

Never, ever click on a link to Paypal and log in, even if it seems legit. Same with Ebay emails, just don't bother. There are some right dodgy folk out there
