I agree it's not as slippy as polished floor, but early doors when its cold and dusty there is a lot less grip

This is something that i have been playing about with recently, i have tried the cells in the normal layout and like this back to back and to me the car feels nicer like this. I feel it makes the car more predictable over bumps and slightly more mid corner steering.

I know the battery is sittting closer to the center, but with it sitting that high does it make the car roll more?

No not at all, it was something that concerned me until I tried it, if anything the car rolls a lot less.

I know they cost alot..... i have recently bought a new shell for my trf 501x... that was a bit pricey.

I'm sure you are aware that the shell was designed with performance in mind rather than aesthetics, plus things that are winning become more appealing. Think of all the cars/bikes over the years that looked ugly at first sight but as it performs well the looks go out the window and you see a different appeal.

Wayne Rooney is another example.
