Default 4wd help

Recently i have been pondering over a 4wd and there is alot of choice and it is a very difficult decition to make. Well i had sort of decided on the x5 butlooking at it it looks sorta ugly i know i shouldnt worry about looks but i do like a menacing looking car. I like the X5 its self but dont really like the bodyshell. SO then there is the xx4, good car looks OK, BUT!!!! I love AE and i never thought i would drive a losi buggy but that may just be me being perfectic. Then there is the Yoke BX, Amazing looking car seems to be fast but the price it exspensive. Then the tamiya 501x Very cool looking car and if jimmys performance is anything to go by its a beast of a car but again new car still unproven parts not easily availble in britain and no major team so setups not easily availble. Then there is the pred that might end up being a bit of a dark horse as i like this car and it seems to perform well but they are exspensive. Also the S4 looks good but its a new car and is still untested.

The bj4, Zx5, And xxx4 are out of the window for various reasons.

So if any one could offer me some advice that might tip the ballence as at the moment its a stale mate.

A

If you dont mind me asking, what are your reasons for putting 3 very good cars out of the running?

the xxx4 is awful on outdoor bumpy tracks which is fair enough. but the zx5 is awesome. cheap to buy and dirt cheap for spares.

the early rumours about dodgy drivetrain don't really apply anymore now people know how to shim them.

Looking at jimmys reviews the atomic carbon fibre convertion for the lazer zx5 looks nice but i would have to find out more about it. So the zx-5 is a maybe.

The xxx4 is because it isnt very good over bumps.

And the BJ4 is because i dont like it and i know two people who had them then sold them one know has a xx4 and he seems to like it alot more.

For £199, the Kyosho looks like the steal of the century!! I had not given the ZX5 much time until I started reading Jimmys' review and some other posts in various forums. I have to admit that I am liking the look of it more and more. In my own personal opinion, it is the nicest looking buggy at the moment.
For me, the choices would be BJ4, Pred or ZX5.

Regards to ZX5, more set ups will be available this year as Kyosho are looking for 2 top ten drivers to run them this year together with the 2wd. So this means the car will get better with the help of some fast guys.

Ive sort of narrowed it down a bit to the Yoke BX, Atomic Carbon S4(LIke this but it depends on how much it is), Lazer zx-5. But i still like the X5 and the xx4.

I know mate, it's killing me but I have to get a new esc before a new car! I will pick up a ZX5 when the B4 is fully spec'd and put it together as a slow burner project for the next indoor season I think. Looks like a top car but I wish more AE parts fitted it!!

I'd have to go for the S4 Would be interesting to here why you have put the BJ4 out, as the S4 uses quite a bit of BJ4 running gear?

Nothing wrong with a XXX4 loads of setups, easy to work on and pretty stong too. I drove one all last year and finished inside the top 40 at the nationals with it.

You must have money to burn with a TC4 that you've never run, thinking of buying a TC5, an B4 and now a 4WD! Anyway, if you've already ruled out various cars then there is only one choice left to you - ZX5. A pal of mine runs one and it seems very good, if a little twitchy. With all the conversions availabe this should be (is) a very good car and superb value for money

Ok ive had my b4 for a year and my tc4ft since the summer so its not like ive got money to burn i was interested in getting a tc5 in the summer but not now and the 4wd will be for my bday. Soz if that came out the wrong way i was just saying i havent just bought all these cars at once i have been into RC for a few years now so i have started to get a bit of a collection.

Any way i have my doubts about the zx-5 becuause someone down out club had one and he sold it for a xx4.

Thinking about it i have gone around in a circle Im back to The tamiya 501 X, the xx4, X5.

Thanks for everyones help you have all been helpful.

Ashley

P.S. I think it will be the tamiya or the X-5

the S4 will definitely be out of your price range.

have you ever driven a ZX5? never rule a car out until you try it. i tried a friends pred and hated it, but the zx5 suits me to a tee and i stuck it 4th in the A at last years F3's, my highest result by far.

spare should also be a factor depending on your level of driving. ZX5 spares are dirt cheap, £5 for all 4 wishbones. Losi wishbones are over £10 per pair.

you best bet as always is try and drive each of the cars you are thinking about. and also drive 2 of the same car in case the first person has it set up like a dog!
