I tried to get in but they all want experience. Getting that is the hard bit and I felt that that the only way in was to start very bottom.

After numerous knock-backs, I spent 15 months working for a kart manufacturer and their race team. After leaving, I started working on Racer Magazine but spent another three or so years turning spanners for junior kart racers.

One thing I learnt was that if you thought RC wasn't cheap, take a trip to a kart track when one of the junior national rounds is taking place...

Pretty much the same as Southwell for me however one class that is getting really good over past year is th British GT championship.

I've also been following Britcar for the past year and am hoping to go and watch the Britcar 24h at Silverstone (the one Top Gear entered last year) in september.

Hi

I am 17 and already have 2 years of experience, currently i help out with a team by my house for free, they let me get hands on with the car and they are also teaching me theory side of things.

Yes in motorsport it is all about experience, i know many old F1 mechanics who have no qalifications but experience and they hired them.

there are people at my college doing motorsport, just watch F1 on the TV and they think they will become mechanics just from doing a course which in my opion is slight nothing to do with motrosport, i have spoke to some freinds who work at Mclaren and renault and i told them to ask about if my course would mean anything and they said i means Jack, it is better if you have it but they would rather experience.

I spent my first year just clearning cars and learning how an event works but now on a monday i help strip the engines, do the driveshafts by myself including, cleaning and putting back in the car but at race events i am in charge of the data side of things.

Hi

I think the same as you c0sie, they never overtake were as in bikes and touring cars they overtake and can crash into each other with no problems unlike F1.

I follow a few motorsports, mostly irish stuff. I also would take a lot of photographs at rallys. Thats what actually got me into photography.

Id take photos at maybe 15 rallys per a year.

I also do a bit of sim racing.

I marshall at Lydden Hill. Mainly for Rallycross - you can't beat being stood on the grid when a load of Group B cars rev up!!

Rallying for me.
Everything else just bores me like F1 because they are just going round in circles. With rallying you never really know whats gonna be round the next corner.
I work on my dads rally car.
