My son's Mamba Max Pro has started cutting out sometimes during racing another racer who uses the same system said that by fitting a stutter stopper to the receiver this would stop it cutting out phoned our local shop who seemed to know something about it but wasn't totally sure is it a simple case of soldering a capacitor to a servo lead or is there more to it?

It sound like you may have glitching.
Probably you need one to plug into your spare receiver port. You could solder one to a lead although it's probably more hassle. I bought this one on eBay recently http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3208596953...#ht_1819wt_871 |

When you say the car cuts out, do you lose power to the motor, servo or both.
The mamba max pro is prone to bec issues (power supply to receiver) As said above, you can fit a capacitor to a spare channel to buffer/smooth out the heavy voltage load, or you can fit an external bec such as the mamba bec. I fitted this to my mamba in my short course and it cured all my issues. |

It may very well be a bec issue, as the servo draws heavy current the bec inside the esc shuts down for a second, and if combined with spectrum causes a brief moment of failsafe
One cheap way to test is by either fitting a capacitor into a spare channel, or fitting a separate rx battery into the receiver, but make sure to remove the RED wire from the esc to rx wire on the plug first. If either of those fix it, chances are its the esc's bec system. These are very common to fail and when good only provide 2.5-3.0 amps at best. I'd personally recommend replacing with the mamba external bec as its capable of handling 7amps all day which will power the thirstiest of servos. |
