Default Schumacher XLS / SWB Project

Ok so I own two early CATS the XLS below is in really good condition and not much to sort out. Rear role bar are missing and wing I dont think is the original one. Anyone no anythink about the paint scheme very retro but may do a Massi shell for it.

So I need some help with my mongrul it was an SWB converted by the origional owner to an XL/XLS.

Annoyingly the origional owner lost the origional box and all the parts in a house move hence why I got it cheap. So I am now looking to restore this back to an SWB. Any help sourcing a non repro chassis and identifing the non origional parts would be appreciated. For example I dont think the gold rear shocks are origional. The top deck is a tanaplan I guess and maybe even procat as the steering fouls. The dayglow wheel are from an unknown source.

The rear shocks are Associated RC10 ones by the looks of it. The green wheels looks like they might be "Armark" (I think that was the brand) 2.2inch wheels.

The transmission side plates aren't original, as the std ones would be silver. Can't remember who made them - possibly tanaplan as you sugested about the top deck. The layshaft is Model Motor Sport (MMS) and the front diff looks like it's white, in which case it would be MMS as well.

Can't help thinking it's quite a way off being an SWB, so it's not going to be easy.

Steering looks like it has some non standard bits in it, but no real idea what.

Transmission side plates are Schumacher, they were available as a spare part
U623T Trans. side plates black - Pro-Cat

Rear lower wishbone pivot bracket looks to be Procat

Upper chassis is Team Tanaplan XLS/Procat

The steering centre trackrod is non standard, looks too thick and not curved to avoid cotact with front pivot brackets

Hope this helps

John

I knew the pros on here would know about this car. The blue one is even less standard than I thought it was :-( I will start dismantling it in a couple of weeks and see what I find.

Those green wheels are definately more dayglow yellowy/green I just want some of those silver Schumacher ones.

Certainly SWB parts aren't easy to find infact I suspect I will never find them but I will have fun trying. As I have an XLS already having the second car in parts for a year or two isn't and issue. I can always resort to repro parts after that. I certainly can't afford to buy a nice SWB and if I could I would rather buy an SX3 and get back into racing.
