Which 2.4ghz system

Am confused over which is the best 2.4 ghz system to get, does anyone know which companies do 2.4ghz, so far I am aware of:

1. Futaba (great but receivers too big for what I'm running)


2. Spektrum modules (but do these have too much lag if I use themin my futaba stick?)

3. Sanwa, not sure how good this setup is, anyone?

Are there any others too?

Does anyone find problems with Spektrum? I read somewhere it can allow too high a voltage to the servo, but not sure if that's true?

Wow if the Futaba RX is too big you might have problems with anything!

Spektrum do a micro RX though. And no, no lag with a 3VC. Before I switched to the superior FASST system I was running Spektrum with normal RX. And no, I didn't have a problem with the BEC either.

Yeah I'm running the FASST system now and love it, but cannot get the receiver to ft in my car (Aero)

There is no lag with Spektrum. I've used Spektrums for a while (I use a KO Esprit III with module and my son a DW3R) with a micture of receivers and have never ever experienced any lag. I now almost exlusively run the 3500 micro servo's in all mine and my son's cars.

Also, if you plug a standard (non-digital) servo in and leave the transmitter default response setting as Ultra\High then you will most likely blow the servo. As long as you set the reponse to normal you will have no problems with any servo's.

Another vote for the Spektrum Pro Series here. I have used it in my 17-year old Futaba FF3 for about a year, and just this weekend in my new 3VCS. No problems experienced so far, it just works!

The Pro Series has no perceptible change in response in either system, and I notice no difference between this and the old 40Mhz system. The new 3VCS is better than my FF3 for response.

I can thoroughly recommend the Spektrum Pro Series, and the diddy receiver is superb. HTH

If you get the old type of spectrum RX you will have problems with voltage after 10min but with PRO RX its fine.

I have the Exzes plus system with 2.4ghz for about 6 weeks, and i find it very easy to use, the rx is as small as a ko 302 r, no loss of signal, small ariel (bonus with big footed marshals), and a solid build compared with the ko3
I had the ko3 before the Sanwa and personally didn`t like feel in build/control and tacky chrome, compare with the older ko2 which i had for 8/10 years
On switching the Sanwa Exzes plus 2.4ghz i very happy with the whole package and will not be looking the to change for a long time.

Could you do me a favour and measure me the height of the receiver (not the bit sticking out high up but the height of the rest of it), I am trying to work out if it will fit into a space I have earmarked?

It measures 30x26mm foot print x 16mm high and 19mm high with the xtal/ blue light raised pip

I had problems with voltage in my 1/8 buggy that with 2 ace servos after 10mins the failsafe would kick in as not enough power was getting through this was with a 1600 RX battery. So i couldn't last a final

no idea why your failsafe would kick in
we charged are 1600 nimh rx pack and it lasts all day racing
5 heats and 20min a main and thats with two ace servos

I've used the original Spektrum stuff since it was first released in a Futaba 3VC and noticed no difference in reponse time to the original 40MHz set-up, no voltage issues in 1/8th (2 high power servos ...... often ran for an hour plus at practice sessions ... never a hint of trouble), have run anologue and digitial servos (I am odd and have gone back to analogue as I find them more reliable than digital!!!!) and no problems again.

I think the basic Spektrum stuff is really good ..... can only assume that the pro stuff is going to be even better! When my basic Spektrum kit gives up (hopefully a long time down the line) I will buy Pro but for now I am happy, can't recomend it highly enough.

You said you couldnt notice any difference in response over 40Mhz, so why would you reccomend it?
