Default Car choice for 1:10 off road 2wd

Ok, hope this is the right place to post this. I am just starting in the field of club racing, my real passion is short course truck racing but there's not a lot going on in the uk so I'm looking for a buggy so that I can have a play at meetings around the south east. My job means that I will be an occasional attended rather than a regular so I'm never going to be winning championships, just want to have some fun. The only real choice I've made is ELECTRIC only, just don't want a gas car as have very young kids and also most local tracks run electric.

I've had a bit of advice, and I think 1:10 2wd would be a good start point and I've got a budget of only around £200 (+/- a little, mods can be added on the side lol) to get going (wife still doesn't know my 4x4 SCT has eaten over £1000!)

Ideally I think I'd go for a losi 22, but too expensive. So also been looking at mad monkey and B4.1 but am open to suggestions

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I am a real newbie in this area would also consider different scales and drives but 1:10 2wd seems to be the best budget entry point

Sorry, forgot to say, I've got a stash of stick 2s lipos for the SCT, kinda like a car which could use them ;0) not an absolute necessity but would help - thanks for your quick reply, had been looking at that car too, just came out a little over budget because of batteries :0(

So as to not show any brand preference or outright brand-whoring - and since you're on a bit of a budget, it would be my advice (as I suggested in your other thread) for you to do some regular spying on the "For Sale" section of the forum here or even place an ad in the "Wanted" section - http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2 - being as I'm always seeing deals being posted (there's even currently a 22 going for £110), and you don't know what you could come across if you don't at least try.

Ive never ran a Schumacher so am not best placed to comment on their pros and cons but I tend to browse the For Sale section, and also have a nose on Ebay from time to time and these tend to be at the lower end of the used car market in terms of price so a Cougar may be a good starting point.

I know Schumacher cars are not everyones cup of tea but from seeing their team drivers in action then its fair to say that the cars are very competitive. The rest is up to you...

The Cougar can also be run with either sticks or saddle, depending on how you configure the layout....

get your lipo's from HK that'll save you quite alot... takes about 3 weeks...
or if you get the from the de warehouse ive read that takes 4 days but costs a lil more.

get the Sportsman Version 3.0 7.5 - mbmodels (seem to be out of stock now) selling these for £35 ive got a 7.5 seems pretty decent for the v3 plugs on as well!

you can get the LPF for about £85 also...

I've previously found HK Lipos to be either great or rubbish, I'm happy with my current supplier, just don't see much point in not using the batts I've already got ;0) thanks for advice though

Looks like I'll go 22 second hand, need to discuss with wife first though :0)

Will do mate, thanks. Might be a few days though - late shifts mean i wont see the wife for a week :0( so not much chance to discuss it with her (time for flowers me thinks lol)

I must say you guys have been a great help already, look forward to continuing in the community.

I like the swappability of the 22 set up, I know the buggy is a little more work than others, but that, for me, is part of the fun and i really think, from reading, that the inboard motor set up option will help with local kent tracks. It will be after christmas before its up and running, at the earliest, but can't wait.

Reckon, after all in will be cheaper than MM, but might get a MM for kids if i get into club stuff :0)
