Default Restoring a XX4 WE - To bling or not to bling?

I am building a xx4 WE out of NIP spares i have lying around. Question is do i bling it to the max with every Trinity alloy part i have kicking around and upgrade driveshafts etc. Or should i build it as out of the box? I really don't know what to do so thought i would ask everyone

I would only upgrade things which are proven performance developments for the car. I started using a standard XX4 WE at Xmas and I now have it running competitively with the latest machinery.

There's a bit of a fisheye on the camera - I don't run crazy amounts of toe-out

So far this is what I've done.

1. XXX CR Rear VLA wishobones
2. XXX-T rear hubs
3. MIP front CVD kit
4. E-Speed shock tower reinforcements and rear camber mount reinforcement
5. XXX front wishbone link/saver
6. Shoulder bolt kingpins
7. E-Speed steering rack
8. Upgraded middle belt and tensioner
9. Fuel tubing in clicker to make it useful
10. Short lipo on one side
11. Trinity motor and servo mounts
12. Steel rear diff outdrives
13. Alu front diff outrive savers
14. Lexan rear mud guards
15. Sometimes I use Schumacher Cat 12.5 degree alloy front hubs
16. Associated spur with high torque pad on rear driven side coming soon.
17. 25g in front belt housing, 40g between tunnel and lipo

Hope this helps - car is really competitive.

Thanks for that. I have a race car as well which i have quite a few of those changes on. XXXCR rear end etc. Be interested to know how you find the Associated spur and pads. This one though is going to be my little tribute to the car and not run. Just not sure if it should be standard or not!

Thumbs up xx4 we re-build

As a long time fan and past owner of several xx4 we buggys I think you should build it bone stock out of the box spec as you intend it to be a shelfer rather than a racer. Keep us posted as I'd love to see some pics when its is done. If you need any spares NIP for the build let me know as still have some in my old kit boxes. Good to see another fan keeping this classic alive

I have a funny feeling it might be one of your old ones. Red with non threaded shocks? I have to say i agree, but it has trinity bulkhead and rear hubs which do look nice!

Going to add threaded shocks, new rear wishbones & hubs, new front bulkhead. New steering set, new rear graphite shock tower. Think that is about all it needs, can you remember what you had done to it? Sorry if it wasn't you BTW!

Think i have most things, do you have any NIP Pulley sets?

I've had 5 full xx4's go through my hands over last 12 months so good chance it could be one of mine dude

I do have some nip pulleys I think. If you change to threaded shocks and want any original nip losi piston sets let me know.

I'm racing tonight so when I get back ill check for pulley set and drop you a pm, if it is one of my old xx4's who did you buy it off just out of interest?
If it has blue trinity rear hubs and blue bulkhead then I have a feeling its off me
The trinity stuff looks really nice but sometimes can be guilty of throwing overall alignment of mounting holes out if you go too crazy with it as they are non Losi upgrades.

Saying that if you have the trinity finned motor plate get it on there as it looks the nuts
