Default Club needs/wishes

As promised I have taken the baton and made contact with Bury council who have agreed a meeting to discuss in the first instance the clubs parking wishes. Wishes are not always granted but the council need to know specifically what we would like in terms of parking, hard standing, soft standing, where best etc?

The council are very keen to help out here, as they don't want a moaning group complaining all the time, anymore than we want a ranting football secretary.

You may or may not know that the new building will be used by a gymnastics club, which once completed circa March 2012, will be the 4th club on the Goshem site, along with Bury juniors football, the cycle club and of course ourselves.

In order for all the clubs to operate as effectively as possible it is vital that we know each others needs and schedules. Now I know this might seem like a big task, but essentially what is needed is the sharing of e-mails, contact numbers for those running each club and the ability to publish/share planned event dates and times.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get the council on side and to build good relationships with all our neighbours.

your constructive comments welcomed.

Apologies to the committee if i have trodden on any toes, but Roger did admit to me that he was getting nowhere ranting at the council.

Darren

Fantastic work darren!

as for parkin we need adequate space for around 25 cars this would enable ample parking and pitting space.

also good access to the track, IE not be blocked by the abusive footballers.

the surface needs to be hard pack flat even surface and not the mess we have now with flags and stones and pot holes everywhere. can be a real trip hazard around the track! not to mention we occasionally get members coming who require wheel chair access and the surface is totally unsuitable for this chap.

good luck and really appreciate your effort

As I said last week - and you have the same idea - if we can get ahead of the issues then we can only win, or at least find amicable solutions, especially if only one side is gobby making us look responsible going forwards.
Good luck in the first instance and if I can be of any help drop me a pm, I'm not local but maybe a useful point as the club is of course trying to attract people from everywhere

240V power would be great.

Then we could park on the car park and pit around the track. without charging issues! Gazebos/Tents would be ideal.

Then we wouldn't be in anyone's way.

Default power supply

Matt,

I agree. This is precisely why we need to meet with the council. If power is a feasible option then im sure it would make more sense to do it now whilst work is ongoing on the new build, however I suspect this was discussed when the track was re-located.
I will of course voice this idea and the benefits round parking.

We could perhaps look at producing an aerial map of the site, on which ideas can be placed with ideal access, hard, soft standing etc. Of course i hope to get a copy from the council but that will be in a couple of weeks and having the members thoughts before the meeting will be advantageous.

Can anyone print an A3 size one or larger?

Lip,

Your quite right to point out the need for safe access and again this I will raise. As for the hard standing all round, that would restrict the use of gazebos etc in that particular area. The area immediately around the fencing is tight but again the power is the problem.
p.s lets stop using derogatory comments towards our club neighbours, else we wont move forward!

Steve,

Thanks pal. Once we get the meeting with the council sorted, I will speak at the track. I will actually be racing this Sunday and not just visiting with the kids!

cheers guys keep on with your views.

Darren

thats fantastic work darren, i think this is a good direction to push forward as rodger has mentioned before that were just a little club that nobody listened to. hopefully now our little voice will be heard. as for about plans about the parking and other wishes is there access to how the new gymnastics building will look and where the final building will be related to our club sort of blueprints. it might be easyer to work out parking space if we know what sort of room we could work with or with what were allowed to use.
