Talking Wrexham Model Car Club - Indoor buggy club night

Here at Wrexham Model Car Club we are moving towards providing a club which caters for as many differnt classes of RC racing as possible.

We are currently building an off road track on our site in Wrexham which is due for completion in May. In the mean time we are starting an indoor buggy club night starting from the 20th Feb. I have been busy building jumps and ramps for this new track and its starting to take shape.

So here's whats happening:

When - Every Wednesday starting Wednesday 20th Feb 2008
Location - Wrexham Model Car Club
Classes - ANY!!!!!!!
Cost - £2 (First Night Free, so EVERYONE on the Wednesday races free!)
Catering - Cans, chocolate, crisps, tea & coffee all available

Their has been alot of interest in this at our club and we should have a good turn out.

All are welcome so please come along!!

Adrian Jones (Race Director)

Not sure what the outdoor track will be yet, I spoken with the members who are building it and their are up for a multi surface track including dirt, astro, etc. We are getting one of the members JCB onsite to landscape the track so it should be a multi level track and not just on one level.

The indoor track is well on its way to being completed. so far we have a small wall of death, a few small ramps, a medium ramp and we shall also hopefully be building a curved banked corner, and some corigated surface.

We are going to run it as a normal club night times so I shall be their from 5:30pm, racing starts at 7pm till 10pm depending on numbers and heats

We are going to run the normal 2WD and 4WD and any motors and batterys inc LiPo (normal precautions for LiPo though!!)

steer clear of the curigated stuff, its either not noticable and not worth the effort to put in, or its so random its just rubbish to race with.

corigated surface adds nothing 'nice' to any track for 10th off-road.

everything else sounds brilliant!

try and add in some landing ramps too, lots of satisfaction gained from hitting a nice downramp when landing a jump.

Cheers for the advice about the corigated surface!!

this is a new venture for our club so the track and its obsticles are in development. So far we have the following

Wall of death
15" Ramp
Half Moon ramp
Corner ramp

To be developed :

another half moon ramp
curved banked wall of death corner unit
Table top
Rythm Section

Its all about getting time and materials. Anybody have any ideas and we would be more than happy to try them.

So far my list of people who said they will try and attend are :

Jamie B4
Matdodd
Stan (Matdodd's friend)
ashleyb4
franki
Davidagriffinuk + Brother
RLGfx
Kopite
andy05
Jamie B4
DaveG28
Fiddybux
Myself
Matt Brown
Adrian Prince
Steve Prince
Mark Poole
Steve Parker

plus anybody else who wants to come along!!

I was at the club tonight relaying the track in preperation for the 20th. We have a nice open flowing track which we can tweek on the night if people want to make changes. I would recommend a small pinion though as their are only 2/3 parts where you are going to be at full throttle at any point and for a brief period. Over the next few weeks I might extend the wall of death by making it double the height and a little wider.

2WD for me (B4)

I know sounds daft but I am going to be running my 6.5 brushless and my LiPo battery. Tyres are going to be worn down Schumacher Mini pins.

Gonna run my 6.5 because its the slowest motor I got, 4.5 would be WAY to fast. I should be sensible and put a 19T in it instead but I aint got one!
