Hello all,
I was thinking of getting myself a 4WD car and i was looking at the B44.1. The only thing i was wondering is that buying all the bits for the B44.1 will be just over £550 for the bits i would like. Now i know that you do get what you pay for but, I am not a Pro level driver. I would say 5/10. SO my question is. DO i go for a Kyosho ZX-5 RTR and put My spare brushless Motor and controler from my B4.1 RTR buggy. and save myself about £400. So will i notice a huge performance difference between chassis at my level, and are the Kyosho cars tough?? Thanks Chris. |

How about a 2nd hand b44 instead? Plenty about in the for sale section, and about half the price ofna new one. Nothing against the zx5 rtr, but as you say, you get what you pay for. You could always keep your eye out for a 2nd hand zx5 fs as well.
Mark

But have been caught out beffore with getting something through the post that was not really as advertised. ![]() What would the performance of a 4WD be like with the 3000KV motor out of the B4.1 RTR be like?? Will it have the punch?? |

For inside, and your driving ability I would say possibly.
For outside, it would be a no no IMO. Hope this helps Mark

I started with a ZX5 RTR and with it's 20 turn brushed motor is was great. However there are quite a few differences between the RTR ZX5 and a kit ZX5. The main ones for me were that the diff out-drives were plastic and the drive shafts had plastic CV type joints so as soon as i upgraded to a brushless system the drive train was wrecked front and back. These parts are metal and a lot tougher on the kit car, they are also expensive to upgrade if you do get a new RTR. I have driven a few 4wds and personally would not go for either a b44 or ZX5. I run a Durango now and don't regret changing. Like yourself i am a 5/10 driver at best and would say the easiest car i have driven is the LOSI xx4, but they do need looking after with 3 belts etc. If you do go for a zx5 get a 2nd hand kit car. Even if the diffs etc need rebuilding it is still cheaper than upgrading the drive-train on a zx5 RTR.
An old post which details the parts that needed upgrading if of use http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17148 Last edited by dibble34; 11-07-2011 at 08:49 PM. Reason: added info |
