For off road racing in the east midlands check out http://www.me-or.com The site covers most clubs in the Mid east and also the Mid east regional series. You should be able to find a club near to you that you can start racing at.

Most of the clubs listed on the site have a forum on here in the club talk section.

if you're in the area you could come to mansfield (see our section in 'clubs') and have a chat, nice and relaxed and some knowledgeable drivers ;-)

Broxtowe is also a good place to visit on a friday (or this sunday)

Hi, and welcome!

I notice from your original post that you want something a bit cheaper than your Heli's.... I don't know how much your Heli's cost you but RC cars are not cheap to buy so it depends on your budget really?

You can obviously buy a car as a 'toy' which are cheap but if you are looking to race then it can add up.

As a couple of examples, you can get the Ansmann Mad Rat RTR for about £100 but you would still need to buy batteries and a charger so would likely spend about £150 is to get it running. This would be a perfectly respectable entry level car but it would require some upgrades long term to be challenging for top honours.

At the other end of the scale, if you wanted a 'pro' car straight off then you would probably be looking at £300 for a kit, £70 for a motor, £80 for an ESC, £30 for a servo, £100 for Tx and Rx, £70 for Lipo batteries, £60 for a charger, then there would be other things like tools, tires etc.

These prices above are only a rough guide, but it gives you an idea of the costs involved. There are obviously cars which fall in between these two examples so it's all down to your budget really?

Where abouts in East Midlands are you? I'm in Kettering so I'm in the same corner of the world myself. Depending on how confident you are, the cheapest option is often to buy online, but it's sometimes worth paying a tenner or two more to get the knowledge and advice from your local shop!

I hope this helps, if you have any questions at all just ask ad this forum is the best I have ever come across for helping each other out. Whether you need advice on cooking a roast dinner or getting the best 4wd car there are always people on here willing to help....
