Default Other brands of 28t idler gear to fit rat/monkey

Been racing the Monkey on high grip astro with lots of jumps and its killing the idler gears.

What other brands are compatible and of a stronger material that can drop straight in the gearbox. I already have the hpi firestorm metal idler gears but they just eat the diff gear as they are narrower. I have set the slipper as loose as possible without the nut coming of the spur shaft.

Its not so much the money but more of a right pain in the arse to disassemble the diff case all the time.

Is there a 52t metal diff gear that can fit in there?

Try a Kyosho SP Idler £8 or the Acetel (I think thats what it's called) Idler made by Team Extreme £5.

I agree with above, was told by a team driver that I would need to replace the 1st plastic idler from layshaft with the ally one asap as it will stip...he was not wrong, it soon let go. also the new nylon one's should be out very soon, so my plan is layshaft, then ally, then nylon to diff.
I have also ordered one of the new composite diff gear from TCmodels

The idlers are a very week part of the kit, but for 65quid you can't realy grumble, there is a 2wd mid car that I hold a special hatered for, costs about 4x the price, and still has a crap gearbox

Ps Ansmann say the ally gears will be back in stock very soon
