Default Winter Racing with SHRCCC (Updated)

Well, summer is well underway and what a few months it's been, from idea to a popular club within it seems a blink of an eye!.

Regularly getting mid 20's on a Tuesday night and Sunday's, it's been a real pleasure to meet some great people and watch some awesome racing, thanks for all your support

So, Winter will be with us in a few months and we'll need to kiss goodbye to Tuesday outdoor racing ... or will we?

I have a few options for you all to consider:

1: Fitting stadium style lighting and continue to race outdoors under lights on grass. However, Winter wont be great for grass.
2: Maybe we should go Astro full track and forget grass?
3: Dont race under lights find a large indoor venue locally?
4: Shut down for Winter and keep the Club summer time only as there are other indoor clubs that run winter (Silverstone, RC & Taplow)?

So, let's have a discussion about where we go and what we do

Not big enough, main room is only 11m x 25m which is too small for Off Road 1/10th. Already thought that. I guess it would do if a case of nowhere else, they've said I can have it. They do have storage space for jumps, ramps and carpet etc.

Not sure what the answer is but I do know I'd like to keep racing over the winter. Also another circuit such as silverstone etc is nit really an option I'd concider. So, keep it local and I guess to do that astro is the way to go. Is there any chance of utilising a bit more of the waste ground at the far end to give a bit more space?

If you do go astro I know a man that can :-)

Guys, what about a small ON ROAD type track in the Cadet hall?, Ministox or Bangers etc? Might be a bit of a giggle!!

Leave the Sunday indoor meetings to the Bigger indoor clubs, Taplow, Silverstone, Maritime etc?

Just throwing something out there.. How about 18th scale buggies in the cadet hall? Maybe include Tamiya mini's and Mardave's too?

Check out High Wycome as they know how to make best use of a small space.

It wouldn't take long to clear that bottom bit of the site with a 4.5t mini digger at all. I could lay my hands on one for beer token money and diesel if you wanted it done!?

Happy to go with the flow just as long as we have some rc racing.

Indoors would be warm and dry..! Outdoors would simply be extreme..!

Hi Dudders, we plan to race Micro-T (and all variations) again this year indoors. You get a pretty good off road feel with the right surface and you would be surprised at how well they jump. You need very little room, but obviously the bigger the better. Loads of upgrade and setup options, and at only around £60 for a stock ready to roll it is accessable by most. Maybe we could do something together over the winter months and if the hall is big enough run some larger scales, too Losi also go 1:24 - 1:18 scale with shortcourse and Buggys available.

I used to run on a tiny indoor circuit with mods. I don't think the size really matters as long as it could be made interesting enough with you space you have.
How about a loop de loop?

Dudders, Any more thoughts/news on SHRCCC carrying on over winter, indoors (or out!)... Especially if RC arena 'are' suspending their friday nights and only concentrating on the winter series..?

Could be an opening for a club night, especially if Taplow are being a bit 'funny' about who qualifies for the apparent discount price (or not!)...
