I have set my Orion Advantage charger (the first edition) to:
Set to Nimh batteries 4500MAh capacity with a charge rate of 5amps. 3mv Per Cell 6 cell pack. Cut off temp 35 degree celcius. I press charge and it says check battery. I have discharged my cells to 0.9volts on a novak smart tray and the deans are on the right way. Why isn't it picking them up ![]() My cells are a pack of these: http://demonpowerproducts.co.uk/prod...oducts_id=1882 When I load up the battery management screen it says input 12.5v which is correct but the output says 14.2V. Does this mean my smart tray never discharged? Any ideas what is going wrong? |

You can't turn the capacity off.
I shall increase the temp. I don't have a multimeter to check the resisting voltage. I will put them back on my discharger and see what happens. |

Hi Chris,
The Advantage has a low cell voltage cutoff as a safety feature - are you putting the cells on charge as soon as they come off the Smart Tray? If so, have you tried giving the cells 15 minutes for the voltage to recover before tryign to charge them again? |

Yes, They finished discharging and I took them off the smart tray. I left them for an hour for my driving lesson then put them on the charger.

Yup sounds like dodgy hardware. 14.2 volt is impossible output voltage.

6 cells should never read 14.2V, therefore there must be a malfunction in the unit. Do you not have access to a multimeter or another charger?

I do have my old charger. I will give it ago with them.
I put them on the discharger and it comes up with all six lights. Maybe its charging somehow

Did you read the instruction on the smart tray? the lights come on and go out when there discharged.
