Default Speartooth 22

Just got the final parts for our TLR22 chassis conversion though this morning so I thought I'd put some photos up here to see what people think.

We've put the saddles across the chassis to help the weight distribution, but by changing the two side plates you can also fit a 'stubby' lipo pack across the chassis as well (we've not got one of those, so no photo I'm afraid). The chassis is 5mm shorter than the standard and can still be run in rear motor configuration as we've included the required mounting holes on the chassis.

We've checked bodyshell fitment and the FTW Vane will definitely fit this chassis and we're going to reprofile the side plates which should allow the FTW Blade to fit as well. We are also looking at getting some lexan side pods made up to allow the kit shell to fit as well.

There are some details on exactly what the kit includes, higher res photos and the expected price at; http://www.akularacing.co.uk/portfolio/speartooth-22/

It will be running for the first time at the Silverstone club night at Moto Arena on Tuesday, and I'll have it with me there on Sunday for the Schumacher Summer Series TC meeting, so if you want to have a look and a chat about it then come and find me. Paul Upton will be doing the main development work over the next few weeks.

is there a reason why aftermarket companies like yourself are going with a shorter wheelbase? I find the losi has plenty of steering already.

And is there any chance you could consider making it out of half carbon/fibreglass to induce more flex, like schumacher's S1 composite chassis?

So ran the speartooth 22 tonight for the first time at the moto arena, ran the car as I ran my kit chassis but just with the conversion on.

Basically all I can say is Tom has done a brilliant job, it has transformed what was already a good car to a fantastic car.

It has made the car much easier to drive, more consistent, goes round the corner consistently with no washing out or swapping ends and it now jumps straight, with little or no throttle input needed over the jumps and not to mention faster.

I was surprised how well the car has gone first time out had numerous people saying how much better it looked than the standard car.

I'll post pictures of my car tomorrow night
