Anyone got any advice on what glue to use to keep sub-C's together?
I am a recent convert to cell glueing (never needed to do it before, read the Durga thread if you are interested in my woes ![]() The only glue I could find in the first place was superglue, unfortunately this makes the heatshrink on the cells brittle. So I am going to re-shrink the cells and rebuild the packs from scratch. What glue should I use? Hot glue gun (in which case, what kind of stick)? Araldite/Epoxy (any particular brand)? Something else entirely? I want a glue that will hold the cells together, but that I can remove at a later date without damaging the shrink or anything else. Cheers for any help. |

Shoe-Goo/Shoe-Glu/etc etc
Sets hard and strong..its great for servos too. Once you break the seal itll peel off like it was never there. I bought a tube of clear last week from eBay for £9.80 posted but itll last you YEARS. Its probably one of the most valuble things I have in my pit box.

i agree shoe-goo is the best stuff
silicone sealant can be used but some is acid based and will damage the heatshrink hot glue guns are ok but dont allow as much flex as the shoe-goo |

Well, I have taken the plunge and got some off eBay, although it has only cost me £7.98. Let's hope it arrives...

Mine was about the same before post.
Just leave your cells over night with the glue on and rejoice in the morning at how great Shoe-Goo is ![]()

I strongly advise sleeving your cells in clear heatshrink prior to gluing, this way, if you have a cell go down you can break the pack down by breaking off the clear cell sleeve and the manufacturers original remains intact on the cells. If anyone needs pre cut Cs sleeve they can get them off me very reasonably or they can buy from their local hobby shop.
