Default Brushed vs Brushless

Just had a look through racer mag and noticed the there are just 3 out of top ten 2wd using brushless, and 1 out of the top 10 ten 4wd at the ifmar world championships.

I was about to buy a brushless combo but reading about this has made me think.

These are the best driver's in the world so why aren't they using the most advanced gear etc. Is Brushless flawed??? ie breaking down to often so they would rather use brushed motors.

Everyone seems to be going brushless at the minute so i ask, How many drivers on here have had breakdowns thermals etc.

Has brushless technology came out to soon for the amount of power we use and is not stable??

So this is the question a top driver will rag the arse of a buggy lap after lap for 5 minutes, Is this putting to much stress on brushless system campared to a lets say a decent club racer, so is that why most are still using a brushed set up.

Let the debate begin

The reason for brushed at the worlds is because it was low grip conditions. Brushless is more aggressive on low throttle than brushed, it suits us well in the UK as everything we have is high grip (even Tiverton & Worksop) compared to what the yanks call low bite.

You'll find the highest brushless was Novak, with the L motors and smaller gauge wire to limit current.

Brushless is ace.

I agree with Chris i've just changed over to brushless and it's so much nicer to use, also no hasle with having to change brushes and skim motors all the time too as you don't need to do any maintenance on the brushless although i have seen a few thermal but i think this was due to poor ventilation on the cars when the surrounding temperature has been high or if the driver has put a too big or too small pinion on. All in all brushless is awsome and i'm never going back down the brushed road.

Yep i think brushless is definatley the way forward. They are maintenece free. There seems to be a lot more settings that can be changed on the brushless speedos. I havent thermalled a speedo yet. Or bust a motor.

Don't start this again we all know that colour doesn't make a difference it's just that blue looks the best as most cars have blue alloy and there's stickers to prove 'Blue is Better' LRP speedo and Novak motor has to be the best combo
