Default futaba 2.4 ghz question

Hi all, I've just got the futaba 2.4 ghz package and fitted the radio gear to my b4, its great no glitches, super fast respnce and no more pita xtal changes and bleed over glitching from other drivers on the frequency next to you

Now the questions:

I originaly intended to get just one rx unit and move it between cars fitting a seperate antenna to each car and having a single plug so I could plug the antenna in each time rather than re routing it through the antenna fittings of three difrent cars all the time BUT the manual says you cant cut the antenna lead on the rx module.

Is this scaremongering ie futaba covering themselvs or does it knacker up the range of the rx unit ?

if so on to Q's 2+3

2 can more than one rx unit be paired to any one transmitter at any one time or will I need to re- pair the rx units on each car everytime I swap cars ? ( this is a fairly easy process from my experiance but thats only with the rx supplied in the package).

3 will any of the following ( ebay links ) rx units work with the transmitter ?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Futaba-R603FS-...QQcmdZViewItem

the above ony differs from the one suplied to me by part no i.e my one is a R603FF but the one on ebay is an R603FS would this be an issue?

there are also quite a few spectrum ones on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SPEKTRUM-S...QQcmdZViewItem

the wording in the auction for the spectrum above implies that it will work with futaba 2.4ghz ( see text below) but I thought the futaba and spectrum systems were imcompatible with each other.

DSM is Digital Spectrum Modulation—a purely digital RF link between transmitter and model that is based on Direct Sequencing Spread Spectrum technology. It operates within the ultra-high 2.4GHz worldwide ISM band, provides unequalled signal resolution, and is immune to the most common forms of RF interference. It will even allow a car to “talk” back to the user. It requires no crystals and completely frees racers from ever having to monitor frequency usage again. Best of all, with Spektrum’s DSM System racers can literally plug this phenomenal technology into existing transmitters like the JR R-1 and Airtronics M-8.

The DSM System

The DSM System consists of a transmitter module and 3-channel receiver. Four versions of the system are available that include modules designed specifically for use with JR, KO, Futaba/Hitec or Airtronics 3-channel, module-based transmitters. No crystals or complex modifications are required. Just buy the DSM System for your transmitter, plug in the DSM module and install the lightweight DSM receiver in your car. All that’s left to do is spend a few seconds “binding” the receiver to the module and you’re ready to go. It’s that easy.

cheers guys, I dont want to splash out £100 on 2 more rx units and find there of no use to me or cut the antenna on my current one and find that I've kipperd it by doing so

I have 2 R603FF receivers bonded to my Futaba 3GR transmitter and they both work fine. I got the second one for £44.50 from ebay as Ripmax UK wanted £100 and that was never gonna happen, this is meant to be a budget system! I think the R603FS is different as it does not carry the FASST logo on it for a start and the unit price is about $10 more. No idea why though.

I strongly recommend you DON'T cut the antennae as my understanding is that it's a co-axial (2 part) cable which would make rejoining it properly a right bugger. Plus you'll void your warranty. Matey has got an R603FS unit and thats gone down already and its only 3 months old so you may need the warranty - at least until its over a year old.
