Just put my old mobo (which worked) into my kids computer, re-installing Vista and the computer keeps shutting off before I can get anywhere into the installation of Vista.
Help??

Sounds like overheating, check the CPU heatsink. Clean off any thermal compound and re-apply, then make sure the heatsink is sat correctly and firmly attached to the CPU.

The computer was working fine with another mobo, I am actually thinking it maybe the mobo, as when it was in my computer, it would struggle to boot sometimes, in the morning, once it started to boot windows. It will sit on the BIOS screen for ages, but as soon as you start to install and use the IDE hard drive, it would shut down.

Tried a BIOS reset? Take the battery out for about 30 minutes and try again.
Easiest way to see where the problem lies is to unplug stuff one at a time, until the BIOS boots normally. This is probably what is causing the problem. In my experience, slow BIOS is normally the clock needs resetting, or dome IDE jumper setting (check you dont have multiple masters etc).

Yeah, tried that, and with two items on the one IDE channel, really slow to post, one item (either hard drive or dvd) and is fine, soon as you start loading up the ide port, it shuts down.
