I think also some have been saying to use a thicker washer after the o-ring and before the e-clip as this can help keep the o-ring seated and stop the output cup from floating so much.

![]() With the thicker waahers the standard seals are fine. Now for the moaners, the every seal leaks you can not stop them leaking it's trying to seal a rotating part!!! An x-seal is the most efficient way of sealing a rotating part and if use an o-ring it has a larger contact area causing friction and a tighter diff. Yes use them in 8th nitro because they use thicker oil so friction has a minimal effect. But on the 410 it'll create a tighter diff action. I'm sure in the years of development durango chose an x-ring for the above reasons. ![]() |

If the orings are so great why aren't they used as crank seals on engines, on output shafts on anything that rotates that especially exposed to the elements Mark? All these use spring loaded seals as they are better at keeping the crap out. As for hydraulics, internals use orings and on the external casings on output shafts spring loaded seals are used. Unfortunately it's not possible to make them that small otherwise they be perfect for the Durango. The next best thing would be a slightly oversized standard seal with a deeper groove in it. Mark you seem to think know better than everyone that's ever lived. Obviously you should a head designer of everything because manufactures of their own products are wrong. ![]() |
