Default Meeting 2nd Jan 2011

Looks like we've got a pass out from SWMBO to pop along for the day to EPR.

Couple of questions,

Anticpated Start and Finish Time
Facilities? (Food/Loo's)
Parking on grass or hard (if hard BMW or Disco3 if soggy!!)

Also, any set up advice for a couple of B4.1 would be helpfull, tyres, oil etc etc.

Many thanks and weather willing, looking forward to it

Neil

Righto! Always pleased to see new drivers but need to point out the current situation!

Recent weather means that we've not been able to get to the track since the last heavy fall of snow at the weekend but we would expect there still to be several inches of snow on both the track and the surrounding playing fields. Hopefully I can get up there tomorrow and see the state of play. We will advise all on the situation.

Assuming we do get a thaw at sometime and the 02 January meeting does go ahead:

Early birds get there form about 07:30 but the track very definitely does not open for practise until 08:30, we have close neighbours!
There maybe food available on site, that depends largely on whether or not there is any football on so we would only know nearer the day.
There are toilets in the clubhouse.
We ordinarily park on the grass adjacent to the track but this would depend on the weather and conditions and even if we do we would appreciate, as always, careful, considerate driving on the grass, we DO NOT want any damage to the grass!

Others may advise on B4.1 set-ups but tyre wise you just need Schumacher Mini Spikes, Yellow's for the dry (fat chance!), Greens for the damp!

We'll advise on the situation as it develops over the holidays. We may also be looking for some help prepping the track before the race weekend as we guess that most of our regulars probably won't want to come up on Saturday 01 January!

Well as it has for most people the milder weather has finally arrived and locally nearly all the snow has gone!
So looks like it's (provisionally!) Go! Go! Go! for Sunday's meeting!

Am planning on going to the track sometime tomorrow to assess the situation and try and talk to the ground staff to get their thoughts on the state of the ground for this weekend.

I have been led to believe that a few drivers may have been up the track earlier in the week and they may also be able to comment.

Will look at what needs doing to prepare for the meeting, may make a start tomorrow but will almost certainly plan on doing most of the work on Saturday.

I know it's New Years Day but we got to get the track sorted out for Sunday so ANY assistance would be appreciated, normally arrangements apply, I'm sure some of you may be interested in finding an excuse to get out of the house!

As much I would have liked to come up and lend a hand with track prep on saturday, am pretty sure the mrs will get the hump if I abandon my parenting duties both days at the weekend

Mind you if the weathers not too bad, could take my 4 year old up with me - am sure he'll have a hoot with the leaf blower strapped to his back

Re sunday itself, am gonna race in the short course class, do I need to formally book in before sunday? or just turn up and let you's know?

Cheers
matt

Looks like a trip to EPR will have to wait for a few more weeks. SWMBO has double booked us
