VW Beetle help
The missus has a 2000 Beetle. Its just started to hunt when idling and is using a shed load a petrol, its done just over 61K, anyone with a clue as to what may be wrong and whether is safe to continue driving until I get it booked in to the garage ? Had a full service at the end of Sept

That sounds reaaly bad, i imagine it will never pass another mot and possibly every body panel will fall off too.
I will give you a grand for it, can collect tomorrow

Maybe join or look through a Beetle forum? Perhaps someone has already resolved this kinda problem.
I can remember my old rover (B.O.S) had they same issue and i solved it by taking the air filter out and spraying this special stuff down it. Hope this helps lad

My wifes beetle (2000 W-reg) did something similar, but the engine warning light came on too. It turned out to be the Lambda sensors that were at fault. Once they were replaced all was good - it turns out she drove about 3000 miles with the light on too.
