AE shocks

just bought some brand new associated shocks. cost me a lot of money. they are being awful. i have built all the seals and inside parts great and am very happy with tht, but the shock caps for the front dont fit properly and will only go on slightly wonkey or not fully down. when i have built the rear ones the springs rub on the body of them aswell.
any body else having problems with these?
and also the trinity shock collars i bought for the rear wont go past a certain point.

I have the Threaded shock bodies so I can' comment on the collars. What I can suggest, if you haven't tried this already. For the caps, make sure the rubber seal is where it is supposed to be, then place the cap on top and turn it the opposite direction (as if you were loosening it) until you feel the click of the thread end, then begin to slowly screw it on. It should go on straight. It is possible that you have cross threaded them I guess if you forced it on "wonky".

i have the threaded bodies too, im guessing you missed the "dont" out? lol.

i have got the seal on correct. i bought these to replace my old ones as my old ones were quite old. the caps thread is fine. when i put the cap on, even straight [front], the cap doesnt go down as far as i would think it shud, like my both my older set and my rear ones. the front are the heavier annodised ones and so are darker, i dno whether this will make any difference.

Mat, try the tops off your old shocks to see if these fit correctly. If they do, then you'll know the problem is with your new tops. If they don't, then you might have a problem with your new bodies.

Also, check that the new ones are built the same as the old ones, just incase you've made a mistake and not realised....

Sounds to me you've cross threaded the caps. Have a look inside and clean with a small brush.. or toothbrush. If it still wont work then it'l be cross threaded.

With the shock collars, try these on another set if you have some. Make sure these are also spotless.. and dirt will prevent good action. What is the 'certain point'?

Are the springs only rubbing in one area, or all of the body?

the caps arent cross threaded, already checked each one alteast twice and still happens wen i use the ones that are currently fitted fine on the rear shocks.

the shock collars on the rear stop about 6mm before getting to the end on one shock but stop about 4mm from the end on the other shock. wheras the associated ones are fine. [a problem with the trinity ones]

the springs are rubbing on one side of the body except i think this is due to the collars not being wound down to the place they would normally be with this particular spring so the springs are a bit tight and therefore bending a bit [if tht made sense ]
