Default B4 - Gearing advice & Setups please

Hello!

I have just got hold of a Nosram Matrix speedo for my B4. The motor I have at the moment is a Nosram 3 Star one, which is equivalent to a 6.5 turn brushless one I believe?

Basically, I will be running at Kidderminster, and Coventry, in the winter series, and also at the Hereford club, indoors on carpet.

If someone could give me a starting point for gearing, that would be great.

Also, a setup for the 2 outdoor tracks would help me a lot, as well as one for carpet?

I have a few random sets of tyres that came with the car, including...

2 pairs of kit ribs - Front
a pair of kit rears? proline ones?
2 pairs of proline bow ties - Rears
a full set of BB green spikes
a pair of proline step pin fronts - random!
some schumacher spike fronts. they don't feel like yellows in my uneducated opinion!, they seem a lot harder than what I thought yellows were like.

Are any of these any use at all? if not, what tyres should I be looking for?

Thanks a lot,

Chris.

Hi chris

Gearing not to sure so ill let someone else answer htat

Setup and tyres-

Tyres the BB green spikes are very usefull good in the wet also reasonable at kiddy

This is the setup i always start with everywhere dont relaly need to change much if anything at all

Front
Shocks-
Oil 30wt
Piston - 2
Spring-blue
Tower hole- middle
Wishbone hole- inner
camber- degree
caster 30 degree (personally i like 25 but everyone says 30)
toe in- 0 degree

Rear
Shocks-
Oil- 30wt
Piston- 1
Spring- silver
tower hole- middle
wishbone hole- inner
camber- 1degree
Camber link inner- hold on U plate middle hole on hub
anti squat- 1 degree
Wheel base short

Run cells in [][][]__[][][] formation with foam in middle

Tyres-
First thing at kiddy always go out with Bb green spikes as it damp then when the track starts to dry out go to Schumacher yellow mini spikes.

Also you run BB pins at kiddy during the winter series but ive never runpins at kiddy so cant give you much advise there.

Hope ive helped

Thanks Ash, yeh that helps a lot. Do the cells need to be split like that? I don't really fancy splitting them.

Also, I don't know what type of caster blocks I have on the front? how do I tell?

Would the setup change much for carpet?

Thank you.

I run the same setup indoors but we change tyres from schuamcher mini spikes to schumacher mini pins yellow compound.

As for caster block i dont know how you tell on mine i scratch it onto the surface the kits come with 25 but if your car is second hand there isnt much way to tell im afraid. You could find someone who has a spare pair and compare them to theres and see if they are the same angles etc.

As for the cell possition you can split the peice of foam and run the cells in the middle with the a piece of foam each side.

Looking atone of chris doughtys setups he runs his 3 star on 20/81

Also thinking about it i tried this the other day youmay want to change to medium wheel base toget a little more steering.

Thank you, I'll check them out.

I am guessing that a 6.5t motor will be silly fast really. I can obviously turn the end point down on my transmitter, or change the throttle profile curve, but will this work effectively? If not, which motor would be best for me? a 7.5 or 8.5 i guess?

In 2wd alor of peopel run 6.5's try it and see if you think its to fast for you possibly get a 7.5 or you can also put a piece of foam on your tranny above your trottle o it sorta limits your thrrotle.
